A Visit to Space City in Toulouse

Today we visited Space City! An amazing place. We caught a bus with a mob of very well behaved school kids who were on an excursion. The teachers told them to give up their seats for older travellers which they did! We are finding it interesting being in a country where we do not understand the language. It makes us realise what it is like for some of our immigrants. The space city is quite big with several types of exhibits. Our ticket allowed us to go to several different places including an Imax cinema and planetarium. We had 3D glasses in the Imax and visited the international space station! As real as being there, as we could almost touch the astronauts! We saw the training they had to undergo and the daily living conditions on board the space station. We then visited a display on how the earth was formed. We were taken back in time to when the earth was just a hot star and the first few million years when an atmosphere was slowly created-fantastic stuff! We went inside a perfect replica if the Russian space station called MIR. It was maned as the

USSR went through the transition to today’s situation. It must have been scary to wonder if you going to get back home! It was made interesting for us as we hired special headsets which had the ability to know where we were and translate an English dialog of each exhibit, very clever stuff!. This has been a highlight, for me, of our visit to Toulouse.Some space photos to follow!
